Earthquake Tabletop exercise

On March 25, 2015, Galena Property Services facilitated a tabletop training workshop and exercise on Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) for several counties and tribal nations in the Northern Nevada area.  Counties were Douglas, Storey, Lyon and Churchill with the tribal nations of Reno Sparks Indian Colony, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and the Shoshone-Paiute Nation attending the exercise.  Included in the attendee group was the Fallon Naval Air Station, City of Fernley and the State of Nevada, Division of Emergency Management.

The exercise was an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 center on the Pyramid Lake Fault. Participants were giving a half hour training session on COOP then two breakout sessions on how to respond and stay operational after the earthquake.  Many Best Practices came out of the exercise from each of the jurisdictions.  Sixty participants were involved in the exercise.

The main objectives were Mission Essential Functions, Roles and Responsibilities and the big on Communications which are all included in the ten elements of COOP.
